The Weekly Bulletin is out early this week in anticipation of the long weekend.

Clatsop County Holiday Closure - Feb. 19

Clatsop County offices will be closed to the public on Monday, February 19, in observance of Presidents’ Day. 


Regular business hours will resume Tuesday, February 20.

Free Fishing Events This Weekend

Free Fishing Weekend is scheduled for this Saturday, February 17 and Sunday, February 18


On Free Fishing Weekends, you don’t need a license to fish, crab or clam anywhere in Oregon. That means no license, no tag, no endorsement needed. 


Area closures, bag limits and all other regulations still apply.

Parents Must Provide Schools, Child Care Facilities with Kids’ Vaccine Records by Feb. 21

Clatsop County Department of Public Health reminds parents and caregivers that Wednesday, February 21, is School Immunization Exclusion Day


If a child does not have vaccine records showing proper immunizations, that child will not be able to attend school or child care.


Under Oregon state law, all children in public and private schools, preschools, Head Start, and certified childcare facilities must have up-to-date documentation on their immunizations or have an exemption.


There are two age groups that need to increase vaccine levels.

Winter Ice Storm Low Interest Loans Available

The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to small businesses economically impacted by the January 12-20, 2024, winter ice storm.


The disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in 18 Oregon counties, including Clatsop.


Applicants may apply online and receive additional disaster assistance information at SBA.gov/disaster. The deadline to apply is Friday, November 8, 2024.

Escape the Vape Youth Video Contest Launches

Cash Prizes for Youth and Schools


Clatsop County today launched Escape the Vape, a youth vaping prevention video contest with cash prizes for youth and their school. 


Clatsop County middle and high school-age youth are invited to create and submit a 30-second public service announcement video to educate their peers on the dangers of e-cigarette use, also known as vaping.

Public Works

Clatsop County Public Works Schedule for Tuesday, Feb. 20 - Friday, Feb. 23

Road Closure - Svenson

  • Old Highway 30 in Svensen will be closed from US Highway 30, south to Maki Road, on Thursday, February 22, 2024, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. for danger tree removal


Crews will be:

  • Brush chopping on Lewis & Clark Road and Riverbend Road
  • Ditching on Lewis & Clark Road, Youngs River Road, and Sports Acres Lane
  • Performing road maintenance on Riverbend Road
  • Performing culvert maintenance in the Knappa area
  • Pothole patching in the Jewell area

Clerk and Elections

May 2024 Primary Election Candidate Filing Opens

Open positions for the May 21, 2024, Primary Election include County Commissioner District 2, County Commissioner District 4, Sheriff, and Precinct Committee Persons.

New Recording Requirement

Effective January 1, 2024, HB 2029 amends Oregon Revised Statute 205.232 changing the minimum font size from 8-point to 10-point type for recorded documents. Documents being recorded in the County Clerks’ property records must have text with font sizes no smaller than 10-point. We urge all customers to begin updating their forms and templates early to avoid recording delays or extra charges.

Recording information

You can search for a document that has been recorded in Clatsop County. We have developed a way for you to search for a document before coming in or calling our office. 


Once you find the document you are looking for, you can request a copy without paying a research fee.  


Just go to our website under Recording Information – Records Research, click on Locate a Document.

Passports

An appointment is required prior to coming in for new passport processing. Routine service can take 6-8 weeks; Expedite service can take 2-3 weeks. Forms are available at www.travel.state.gov  

Appointment Scheduling Saves You Time

Please go to our webpage and schedule an appointment for passports, park passes, marriage licenses, dog licenses, and recordings with us.


If you do not have an appointment, you may be asked to wait if we are with someone who has scheduled an appointment.
